Job summary

Collins is seeking a Receiving Inspector to examine incoming materials and documentation, ensuring alignment with purchase orders, drawings, quality standards and regulatory needs.

The role emphasizes dimensional and visual inspection, use of precision measuring tools, and timely escalation for nonconforming items. Onsite shift flexibility and a focus on continuous improvement are expected.

Qualifications

• Requires HS diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to read drawings and inspect parts per procedures and drawings.
• Familiarity with precision measuring equipment and basic shop math.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials and documentation to ensure PO, drawings, quality and regulatory requirements.
• Plan and perform dimensional and visual inspection on parts, tools, and gages; accept or refer for rework.
• Use fixed or variable measuring instruments and record results; compute pass/fail based on tolerances.
• Follow instructions and verify dimensions; arrange repair/calibration as needed.
• Support continuous improvement activities and maintain inspection stamp.
• Manage multiple priorities and accommodate shifts/overtime.

Job description

Receiving Inspector Overview

The Receiving Inspector is responsible for inspecting incoming materials, components, and documentation to ensure compliance with purchase order requirements, engineering drawings, quality standards, and customer/regulatory requirements.

This role plays a critical part in preventing nonconforming material from entering production and ensuring on-time, quality product flow.

What You Will Do:

• Work applicable written inspection procedures, drawings, and other pertinent instruction and/or Approved Technical Data to plan and perform dimensional and visual inspection on parts, tools and gages and other equipment, accepting material or referring for rework or quality review based on findings.
• May use fixed or variable measuring instruments where work instructions require checking dimensions and recording results.
• Perform simple mathematical computations to determine pass/fail results based on allowed tolerance.
• Follow proper procedures to perform inspection checks and verification of dimensions and make sure that Work Instructions are being followed.
• Recognize need and arrange for repair or calibration of measuring equipment used in performing the work as necessary.
• Support and promote continuous improvement activities to meet business objectives.
• Must maintain Inspection stamp.
• Manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously
• Flexibility around shifts for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
