Job summary

CRC Group, a leading independent pure-play brokerage and underwriting specialty insurance distributor, is seeking an Inside Underwriter. The role focuses on underwriting activities, evaluating risk, applying carrier guidelines, and placing business within binding authority and brokerage markets to support growth.

You will handle new and renewal production, ensuring compliance with internal standards and pricing parameters.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of underwriting principles, risk evaluation, and policy structure.
• Ability to independently analyze insurance risks and determine terms and conditions.
• Knowledge of binding authority guidelines and market placement strategies.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business within binding authority and brokerage markets, evaluating risk and placing coverage per guidelines.
• Manage the underwriting process end-to-end: submissions, quoting, binding, and policy confirmation within authority.
• Negotiate coverage terms with carriers, including pricing and policy provisions.
• Resolve underwriting and coverage issues by analyzing risk characteristics and applying solutions.
• Monitor accounts to ensure compliance with policies and guidelines.
• Support production goals by driving new and renewal activity and maintaining efficient workflow.

The Inside Underwriter executes underwriting activities in a structured environment by evaluating risk, applying carrier guidelines, and placing business within binding authority and brokerage markets. This role supports new and renewal production by underwriting business, solving coverage issues, and ensuring compliance with internal and carrier standards. The core function of this role centers on efficient underwriting execution, risk evaluation, and supporting business growth within defined authority and pricing parameters.

• Underwrite new and renewal business within binding authority and brokerage markets, including evaluating risk,determiningterms, and placing coveragein accordance withcarrier and company guidelines

• Manage the underwriting process end-to-end, including submissions, quoting, binding, and policy confirmation within established authority levels

• Negotiate coverage terms with carriers, including pricing, structures, and policy provisions, while ensuring alignment with underwriting strategy

• Resolve underwriting and coverage issues by analyzing risk characteristics and applyingappropriate solutionsfor retail agents

• Monitor assigned accounts to ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and carrier underwriting guidelines

• Support production goals by driving new and renewal business activity andmaintainingefficient workflow execution in a structured environment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant insurance designation preferred

• Experience within underwriting or brokering specialty or E&S insurance products

• Experience expectations increase across the career path, with progression toward broader authority, complex risk evaluation, and independent decision-making

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Appropriate state-specific insurance licenserequired.Additionalcertifications and designations may be pursued to support technicalexpertiseand underwritingauthorityprogression.
