Job summary

SPX Technologies seeks an Inside Technical Sales Representative II to drive aftermarket parts sales, manage customer service for incoming orders via QTC, and ensure accurate SAP setup. You will determine pricing based on cost data and maintain a clean sales funnel to meet targets.

This role requires 5+ years in product/parts sales, HVAC knowledge, SAP/ERP familiarity, and strong Excel/Office skills. Hybrid work after probation and a collaborative team environment are offered.

Qualifications

  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and implement changes.

Responsibilities

  • Aftermarket Sales and Customer Engagement: upsell aftermarket parts and train team.
  • Manage RFQ/quoting process, proposals, and territory revenue/margin.
  • Serve as product champion and provide training on towers and components.
  • Order Management and Operational Excellence: process orders in SAP and ensure alignment with proposals/pricing.
  • Monitor order status, coordinate with expeditors, and assist with scheduling alignment.
  • Maintain and update aftermarket pricing catalogs and distributor stock recommendations.
  • Team Development and Systems Leadership: support ISR training and rep/service contractor education.
  • Participate in emergency coverage rotation and provide ERP/system support.
  • Lead IT enhancement initiatives to improve quoting and order systems.

How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As an Inside Technical Sales Representative II, you will drive aftermarket parts sales through proactive selling techniques, manage all aspects of customer service for incoming orders via QTC, and ensure accurate setup and order processing in SAP. The incumbent will determine pricing based on cost data, maintain a clean sales funnel, follow up on quotes, and collaborate with internal teams and vendors to ensure pricing, product availability, and lead times align with customer expectations. This role supports meeting sales targets through parts expertise, team training, workload balancing, and effective quote-to-order execution with minimal supervision.

This role encourages innovation and continuously improves efficiency of technical support, monitors advances of technology and competition, and supports global and acquisition-related technical issues in areas of expertise.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

  • Aftermarket Sales and Customer Engagement

  • Order Management and Operational Excellence
  • Process orders in SAP and ensure compliance with original proposals and pricing.
  • Monitor order status, coordinate with expeditors, and assist with engineering scope and scheduling alignment.
  • Maintain and update aftermarket pricing catalogs and distributor stock level recommendations.
  • Team Development and Systems Leadership
  • Support new ISR training and participate in rep/service contractor education.
  • Participate in emergency coverage rotation and provide advanced ERP/system support.
  • Lead IT enhancement initiatives to improve quoting and order systems functionality.
What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)

Required Experience & Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and effectively implement changes
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-function teams at all levels (production to management) and present data and recommendations verbally and in written form to management
Ideal Experience & Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in product and parts sales
  • Knowledge of HVAC, cooling towers, and/or chillers, strongly desired
  • Aftermarket or distributor sales (representative management) experience, helpful
  • Familiarity with SAP, or other ERP systems
  • Familiarity with engineering documents and history, desired
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, or Trade School degree, in Engineering or similar technical field, preferred.
  • Onsite office environment, Monday – Friday; Hybrid work schedule available after satisfactory completion of probationary period
  • Driver’s License and proof of insurance
  • Occasional lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • The position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours.
  • Keyboarding/typing
  • Ability to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy
  • Ability to handle a large volume of work and perform multiples tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally
  • May work outside at times and be exposed to excessive noise, heat, or bad weather
