Job summary

Suburban Steel Supply, Inc. in Gahanna, Ohio is seeking a customer-facing role to convert inquiries into quotes and orders. You will read blueprints, estimate costs, and coordinate with shop and field teams to move bids and orders quickly.

You will work at the counter, by phone and by email, handling inquiries, processing orders, and maintaining accounts with accuracy and timely follow-through in a busy steel fabrication environment.

Qualifications

• Read technical drawings and estimate material costs for quotes.
• Provide strong customer service by phone, email, and in person.
• Use Microsoft Office and ERP to manage quotes, orders, and accounts; Tekla is a plus.

About the Role

This role helps customers turn inquiries into quotes and orders, with quick turnaround and close coordination with our shop and field teams. You will work at the counter, by phone and by email, reading blueprints and specifications to put accurate quotes in customers' hands fast, then keep orders, accounts and open bids moving in a busy operation.

What You'll Do

• Handle incoming customer inquiries at the counter, by phone and by email
• Review blueprints and specifications, estimate material and labor costs, and prepare quotes
• Process orders, manage existing accounts and follow up on open bids
• Help customers identify solutions based on a thorough understanding of their project, needs and timelines
• Coordinate with the shop, logistics and field erectors to keep work moving
• Resolve customer questions and fulfillment issues with clear, dependable follow-through
• Keep priorities and open work organized in a fast-paced operation

What You'll Bring
