At Martin Sprocket & Gear, we’re dedicated to producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings with excellence, and we're looking for a skilled Inside Sales Engineer like you!

What You’ll Do
  • Complete hands‑on training: Participate in an extensive training program, including time in a manufacturing environment to develop practical knowledge.
  • Develop product expertise: Gain a deep understanding of the company’s products and services, including features, benefits, and technical specifications.
  • Provide technical support: Assist customers by offering technical information and guidance to help them select the appropriate products for their needs.
  • Respond to inbound sales inquiries: Handle sales calls from existing customers regarding product details, pricing, order status, or delivery confirmation.
  • Proactively engage customers: Reach out to existing customers via phone calls, emails, and other communication channels to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Process orders and quotes: Enter orders and quotes for both stock items and custom‑manufactured components and systems.
  • Collaborate with Outside Sales: Work with Outside Sales representatives on open opportunities within their sales territories to drive customer growth.
  • Analyze sales data: Review sales figures and market trends to identify potential areas for growth and improvement.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree: A bachelor’s degree is required for this role.
  • Mechanical aptitude or technical inclination: Strong mechanical aptitude or technical inclination and the ability to understand and work with complex technical or mechanical specifications are essential.
  • Experience in sales or customer service: 1‑3 years of experience in a sales or customer service role, ideally within a manufacturing or technical environment.
  • Computer proficiency: Strong computer skills are required to manage daily tasks efficiently.
  • Experience with Microsoft AX: Familiarity with Microsoft AX is a plus.
  • Adapt to new processes and environments: Demonstrate flexibility in adjusting to new processes, technologies, and work environments.
  • Communicate effectively with customers: Understand customer needs and provide high‑quality service through clear and effective communication.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills: Support customer inquiries and needs with excellent communication abilities.
  • Manage the sales process efficiently: Ensure accuracy and attention to detail from order entry to fulfillment, maintaining customer satisfaction.
  • Handle multiple orders and quotes simultaneously: Maintain efficiency and organization while managing multiple orders and quotes.
  • Analyze data and identify growth opportunities: Use data to understand market trends and find opportunities for business growth.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams: Work effectively in teams and manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Foster collaboration through strong interpersonal skills: Build teamwork and cooperation across departments.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities: Show strong skills in resolving issues and overcoming challenges.
  • Exhibit diligence and reliability: Consistently perform duties with responsibility, dependability, and attention to detail.
  • Physical requirements: Ability to work for prolonged periods sitting at a desk and on a computer, with the capability to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
Your Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Wage Information
  • Annual Salary: $70,304

Note: The compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to California’s SB 1162 Pay Equity Law. It is estimated based on what a successful California applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in California or perform the position from California. Similar positions located outside of California will not necessarily receive the same compensation.

The base salary range above represents the low and high end of Martin’s salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be within the range based on various factors, including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Martin’s total compensation package for employees. In addition, Martin provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life, and disability insurance, a profit‑sharing plan, a 401(k) trust plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
