Job summary

Marvin's Greenville store is seeking an Inside Commercial Sales team member who helps contractors and builders find the right products and manages orders from start to finish.

You will build customer relationships, recommend solutions, and ensure great service while learning about building materials and staying organized in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Retail sales or customer service experience preferred.
• Able to lift up to 100 lbs.
• Strong math, reading, and writing skills.
• Knowledge of lumber/building materials is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and understand their project needs.
• Recommend products and solutions based on customer needs.
• Build relationships and encourage repeat business.
• Process sales orders accurately using the POS system.
• Follow up on orders and coordinate with suppliers.
• Identify pricing, product, or inventory issues.

Description

As an Inside Commercial Sales team member, you’ll help contractors, builders, and other commercial customers find the right products for their projects. You’ll build customer relationships, provide product recommendations, create and manage sales orders, and make sure customers receive great service from start to finish.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys sales, customer service, problem-solving, and learning about building materials.

What You'll Do

• Welcome customers and understand their project needs.
• Recommend products and solutions based on customer needs.
• Build relationships with customers and encourage repeat business.
• Answer customer questions in person, by phone, and by email.
• Create sales and special orders accurately using our point-of-sale system.
• Follow up on orders and work with suppliers and team members to resolve issues.
• Look up pricing, product information, and availability.
• Let customers know about new products, promotions, and other opportunities.
• Keep your sales area stocked, organized, clean, and ready for customers.
• Assist with inventory counts, stocking, merchandising, and customer loading as needed.
• Identify and report pricing, product, or inventory issues.
• Follow company safety and loss-prevention procedures.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is friendly, dependable, organized, and comfortable talking with customers.

• Previous retail sales, inside sales, customer service, or related experience preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable using a computer, phone, email, and point-of-sale system.
• Ability to learn products and confidently make recommendations.
• Good math, reading, and writing skills.
• Knowledge of lumber, building materials, hardware, or home improvement products is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position. You must be able to lift and move merchandise up to 100 lbs., load customer purchases, climb ladders, reach merchandise above six feet, and safely move throughout the store.
