Job summary

The Brantley Lab at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro seeks a Research Technician to support day-to-day experiments in an undergraduate and graduate research setting. The role focuses on basic molecular biology, insect husbandry, microscopy, data analysis, and lab organization, with training provided as needed.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Biology with hands-on lab experience and strong record-keeping.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biology or a related field with 2+ years of hands-on research experience.
• Proficiency with standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, DNA extraction, cloning, bacterial culture, media preparation, sterile technique).
• Ability to independently follow established protocols and maintain accurate laboratory records.
• Master's degree in Biology preferred.
• Experience with Drosophila/Tribolium or other invertebrate models and microscopy/image analysis is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform molecular biology work and insect husbandry.
• Conduct microscopy and data analysis.
• Maintain daily lab organization and accurate records.
• Collaborate with lab members and contribute to experimental design.
