Job summary

UNC Health, a statewide health system, seeks a Clinical Nurse II for the New Day inpatient unit in Butner, NC. The role focuses on coordinating and delivering patient care for adolescents in crisis, requiring strong nursing competencies and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Ideal candidates have pediatric/adolescent mental health experience and are prepared to work across units as needed. The position supports a 36-hour week with night shifts and onsite work at UNC Medical Center.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Board of Nursing approved nursing education program.
• If hired after Jan 6, 2014, must be enrolled within four years and obtain a Bachelor's in Nursing or a Master's in Nursing within seven years of employment.

Responsibilities

• Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs.
• Identifies expected patient outcomes and revises care plans with guidance.
• Provides care for patients with complex problems using appropriate physical, psychosocial, educational and safety aspects.
• Promotes intra/interdepartmental collaboration and participates in unit goals and performance improvement.
• Assesses and integrates discharge planning needs and develops relationships with families to advocate for the patient.
