Job summary

Hartford Hospital, a major teaching hospital in Connecticut, is hiring for a Full Time Wound Care/Ostomy Registered Nurse on the Inpatient Wound Team. The role includes nursing consultation for acute and chronic wounds, ostomy and continence care, and collaboration across the care continuum.

The position requires a BSN. WOCNCB certification is preferred, with weekend coverage and recent acute care experience advantageous.

Qualifications

• BSN required.
• Graduate of a WOCNCB accredited education program with current Wound/Ostomy/Continence certification preferred.
• Exceptions to the educational requirement will be evaluated on an individual basis.
• Recent acute care experience preferred; weekend coverage required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to patients with complex wounds, ostomy and continence care.
• Collaborates with health care team to develop plans for skin integrity and stoma/fistula care.
• Educates patients, families and staff on wound care, ostomy care, and related management.
• Evaluates patient response to treatment and adjusts care plan as needed.
• Uses evidence-based guidelines for therapies, products and equipment for skin and ostomy management.
• Participates in orientation, training, quality improvement activities and policy development.
• Documents care accurately in the electronic medical record.
