Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL is seeking a PRN Inpatient Wound Care RN (WOC) to assess and treat wounds and ostomy care in a hospital setting, including consults during stays.

The role supports both inpatient and outpatient wound care, ostomy, and hyperbaric treatments, with education provided to patients and families. RN license and BCLS are required; WOC certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have current RN license issued by the state.
• BCLS (AHA) required on hire and maintained.
• Wound care knowledge or experience preferred (1 year).
• WOC certification within first year preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess and document wound conditions and treatment effectiveness.
• Apply dressings and therapies with proper technique to promote healing.
• Provide inpatient and outpatient wound ostomy and hyperbaric care.
• Educate patients and families on wound care and ostomy management.
• Track progress, adjust plans, and support post-discharge care.
• Maintain infection control and stay updated on wound care practices.

Shift’s Available:Days–(No Weekends)

Employment Type: PRN

Hours: 7:30AM - 4:0PM or 8:00am to 4:30pm

Location: Riverview Regional Medical Center – Gadsden, AL

We are seekinga PRN Inpatient Wound CareRN,which is also referred toas aWoundCare,Ostomy, orContinenceNurse(WOC) at Riverview Regional Medical Center.

TheWound Care RNwill specialize in assessing and treating skin breakdown and woundsin a clinic setting.AsaWound CareNurse,you will also be consulted during a patients stay in a hospital for a woundor pressure injury, we are also consulted for ostomy care.TheWound Care RNwill also be responsible for determining the proper course of treatmentand interacting with services in the community to continually care for the wound care patient.

** If you have experience in Wound Care, ICU, ER, Critical Care, Telemetry or Advanced Med Surg you are encouraged to apply! **

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Assess and document the condition of patients' wounds and evaluate the effectiveness of wound treatments

• Apply dressings and treatments to wounds, ensuring proper techniques to promote healing and prevent infection

• Provide comprehensive patient care, including both inpatient and outpatient wound ostomy and hyperbaric treatment

• Educate patients and their families about wound care techniques and prevention strategies, teach proper care for ostomies and how to manage continence issues

• Regularly track the progress of wound healing,modifycare plans as needed, ensure follow-upcare,and support post-discharge, and provide emotional support to patients managing chronic wounds or ostomies

• Implement infection control measures to prevent the spread of infections within the hospital, educate staff on proper wound care protocols and internal policies when needed

• Stay up to date on the latest wound care techniques, products, and research;participatein continuing education and professional development activities

• Interact with community resourcesto ensure continuity of care

• Clinic nurses provide hyperbaric therapytoappropriate patients(RN training for hyperbaric therapy is provided)

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

• Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the state.

• BCLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.

• Previous Wound care knowledge and or experience preferred (1 Year).

Additional Qualifications That AreaPlus:

• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.

• Previous Wound care knowledge and or experience preferred (1 Year).

• Wound Care Certification within first year of hire Wound, Ostomy, Continence (WOC) Certification preferred.
