Job summary

Montrose Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking an Activity Therapist for a full-time role, Tuesday through Saturday, at our Chicago-area facility. The incumbent will assess patient needs, plan and implement activity therapies, and guide patients through therapeutic leisure activities to support overall well-being.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation or related field, with a master’s preferred, and at least three years of healthcare recreation experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred.
• Three or more years’ experience in recreation in a healthcare setting with knowledge of the patient population served by the facility is required.
• Previous experience in recreation in a healthcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Complete activity assessments through patient observation and interviews to inform treatment plans.
• Plan, direct and implement activity therapy programs to support treatment goals.
• Lead and facilitate activity sessions to improve patient well-being.
• Instruct patients in activities like sports, dance, music, art or relaxation techniques.
• Develop treatment plans and interventions aligned with patient needs and interests.
• Engage patients in therapeutic activities and social skills development.
• Modify activities to suit the needs of different groups.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or related field
