Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist (PRN)

Join to apply for the Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist (PRN) role at ChildServe.

Overview

Child Serve’s talented team of therapists specializes in pediatric rehab, creating tailored plans for each child's needs. As a PRN Inpatient Speech Language Pathologist, you will provide family-centered speech-language services to children in inpatient care at our Johnston location and residential group homes in the Des Moines metro area.

Schedule

PRN as needed to cover PTO and vacations, with opportunities to support the pediatric rehab unit on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Administer standardized tests, screenings, informal assessments, and clinical observations.
• Interpret and discuss test results with children, young adults, and caregivers, providing ongoing feedback on progress.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians and specialists, to develop, implement, and revise therapy plans based on assessments and policies.
• Create individualized care plans tailored to each child's needs, including appropriate frequency and duration.
• Deliver specialized pediatric treatments in a high-acuity environment, including care for children with complex respiratory needs such as tracheostomies and ventilation support.
• Participate in team and family meetings to ensure coordinated care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC).
• At least 1 year of pediatric clinical experience preferred.
• Experience in feeding and swallowing assessments and treatments.
• Effective communication skills in reading, writing, and speaking English.
