Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital in Austin seeks an Inpatient Staff Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced environment, assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age-appropriate, family-centered care.

You will collect data, monitor vital signs, prepare patients for examination, support providers, administer medications, educate families, document care, coordinate referrals, and triage presenting complaints per site protocol.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or an equivalent nursing credential.
• Current RN license in Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact.
• Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the collection of patient/family data per site protocol.
• Collects and documents vital signs, height/weight and reason for visit.
• Prepares patient for examination per site protocol.
• Assists provider during treatments and testing as directed by provider.
• Administers medication and immunizations as directed by physician per site protocol.
• Documents administration of medication and immunizations in the medical record.
• Provides patient/family education as instructed by the physician or site protocol.
• Documents such education in the medical record.
• Coordinates referrals.
• Triages presenting patient complaint per site protocol.
• Verifies provider order and patient per site protocol.
• Collects and processes specimen per manufacturer's instructions.
• Demonstrates service philosophies to patients and families.
