Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Assistant to support inpatient care for adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients. The role includes airway assessment, monitoring devices, and documentation in electronic records under supervision.

Ideal candidates are first/second year students in an accredited Respiratory Care Program with BLS certification and strong communication skills. The position offers training, supervision, and opportunities to work across pediatric patient

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Care Program
• Credential within 1 year of graduation date
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Responsibilities

• Perform routine airway assessment and monitor bedside emergency equipment
• Document administered services in the patient’s electronic record
• Stock and assess department equipment needs and communicate reorders
• Perform routine non-medication delivery respiratory therapy procedures under supervision
• Assist with administration of oxygen or nebulized medications if supervised by a respiratory therapist
