Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Staff Nurse Inpatient to provide direct patient care for acutely ill individuals at the Winfield/Greater Chicago area facility. The role requires coordination with the care team and family, delivering care via nursing processes from assessment to evaluation, and ensuring high-quality outcomes.

The nurse will work within established ANA standards, participate in governance, and utilize the best available evidence to guide practice decisions.

Qualifications

• BSN required and current IL RN license.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• ER-specific certifications (ACLS, PALS/ENPC & TNCC within 1 year of hire) preferred or required for ER roles.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for acutely ill patients.
• Interact with patients, families and health team while upholding ANA standards.
• Collect and analyze data, develop an individualized care plan, coordinate care delivery and monitor progress.
• Direct care and coordinate use of nursing assistants and other staff involved in patient care.
• Collaborate with patients, families, physicians and ancillary staff and document plans and communications.
• Participate in shared governance, committee work and unit projects.
• Evaluate patient responses to interventions and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Apply evidence-based practice to guide clinical decisions.
