Job summary

Oceans Behavioral Hospital Alexandria seeks a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide nursing care under RN supervision in an inpatient behavioral health setting. The role emphasizes safe medication administration, accurate documentation, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements include a current LVN/LPN license, valid compact license if applicable, high school diploma or GED, and preferred inpatient experience.

Qualifications

• Current, valid LVN/LPN license in the state of employment.
• Valid Compact licenses are acceptable.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One year of inpatient hospital experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Delivers quality nursing care to assigned group of patients under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Documents all findings in the patient record and communicates pertinent assessment data with the health care team.
• Implements care interventions per the treatment plan with other health care providers; performs nursing procedures as prescribed by the physician/LIP.
• Conducts bedside laboratory tests, wound care, and assists with ADLs.
• Promotes patient coping and adaptive strategies.
• Provides patient education and communicates safety and cultural considerations.
• Administers medications per policy and orders; ensures safe medication administration.
• Transcribes orders accurately and conducts chart audits per facility guidelines.
• Utilizes nursing knowledge to meet patient and facility needs; supports evidence-based practice.
• Precepts and provides leadership to new staff; performs additional duties as assigned.
