Job summary

UChicago Medicine in the greater Chicago area is seeking an Inpatient Phlebotomist for the Nursing Inpatient Phlebotomy department. This 100% onsite role involves drawing blood in adult non-ICU units using Epic Beaker Rover.

You will perform venipuncture, ensure proper specimen packaging, and maintain a clean, safe collection area while delivering excellent patient service. Shift is 4:00am–12:30pm with on-call and weekend rotation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of accredited phlebotomy program.
• Ability to perform venipunctures and capillary punctures per CLSI.
• Strong asepsis knowledge and manual dexterity.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and skin punctures using Epic Beaker Rover.
• Package specimens for pneumatic tube delivery and hand deliver when required.
• Provide collection instructions and accept self-collected samples.
• Check-in patients and assist with rooming as needed.
• Stock and maintain a clean, safe blood-drawing area.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and escalate issues appropriately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
