Job summary

Trinity Health in Michigan seeks a Hospital Pharmacy Technician to provide daily pharmaceutical support under supervision. Responsibilities include interpreting orders, dispensing medications, aseptic IV preparation, and safe delivery to nursing units.

The role requires attention to detail, adherence to regulations, and teamwork within the Pharmacy Department. The technician will assist with inventory, licensing, and training of staff while supporting quality improvement initiatives and patient

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a formal Pharmacy Technician educational program and/or Associate's Degree preferred.
• Licensure in the State of Michigan is required.
• Certification as a Pharmacy Technician is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets physician's medication orders and assists with filling, processing and dispensing medications.
• Re-packages and labels medications with final check by a pharmacist.
• Maintains aseptic technique and follows USP 797/800 guidelines when compounding IV admixtures.
• Delivers medications to nursing units, IV solutions, and forms to patient care areas.
• Prepares medications and manages unit dose drawers and nursing unit ADCs.
• Supports drug inventory, restocking and clean work areas.
• Answers phones and directs calls to appropriate personnel; escalates emergencies to a pharmacist.
• Performs nursing unit inspections and restocks crash carts as required.
• Fills controlled substance orders and monitors discrepancies.
• Trains new pharmacy technicians and mentors Pharmacy Technician students.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
