Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, MA is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician/Academy Trainee to support pharmacists and prepare unit-dose medications for patient care units.

The role includes ordering, inventory, labeling, and regulatory duties with progressive responsibilities as MA licensure is obtained. It is based in the Cape Cod Hospital Pharmacy department and offers comprehensive on-site duties.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts state registration as a Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
• Math skills at high school level demonstrated by a timed pharmacy math test.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• High School graduate or GED.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently.
• Basic computer/keyboard skills to run pharmacy applications.
• Must attempt the trainee exam after 500 hours worked.
• Must pass the trainee exam by 700 hours worked.
• Upon MA license, transfer to the State Licensed - Grade S7 position.

Responsabilités

• Reviews and processes departmental order requests.
• Prepares medications for distribution to patient care units.
• Distributes medications to patient care units.
• Maintains inventory, places orders, checks expirations, processes returns.
• Billing and other duties not requiring a pharmacist.
• Maintains records and regulatory documentation.
• Pre-packaging and labeling of bulk meds to unit-dose packaging.
• Answers phones and routes inquiries to pharmacists.
• Maintains department cleanliness and standards.
• Follows policies for safety and infection control.
• Participates in educational programs and meetings.
• Provides service excellence to patients and staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Responsible for non-controlled med issuance and delivery in trainee program.
• Process sales in Community Pharmacy POS with cash/credit/debit.
• Orders meds from suppliers; prepares parenterals.
• Trains new pharmacy support personnel; delivers meds to cabinets.
• Handles medication reconciliation and chemotherapy dosage checks.
