Qualifications

  • Massachusetts registration as a Pharmacy Technician and PTCB certification.
  • 1 year recent experience as Pharmacy Technician; 3 years preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and processes departmental order requests.
  • Prepares medications for distribution to patient care units.
  • Distributes medications to patient care units.
  • Orders medications from suppliers.
  • Prepares parenteral products.
  • Maintains medication inventory and checks expiration dates.
  • Trains new pharmacy support personnel and handles billing duties.
  • Maintains regulatory documentation and unit-dose packaging.
  • Answers calls, directing inquiries to the Pharmacist.
  • Ensures department cleanliness and service excellence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Obtains orders for reconciliation and input into MAR.
  • Prepares chemotherapy and dosage calculation checks.

Job description

Purpose of Position: Assists Pharmacist by performing technical functions.

Description
  • Reviews and processes departmental order requests.
  • Prepares medications for distribution to the patient care units.
  • Distributes medications to the patient care units.
  • Orders medications from various suppliers.
  • Prepares parenteral products.
  • Maintains the medication inventory, place orders in stock, check expiration dates, process returns as needed.
  • Trains and orients new pharmacy support personnel.
  • Billing and other pharmacy duties that do not require a pharmacist.
  • Maintains appropriate records and regulatory documentation.
  • Pre-packaging and labeling of bulk medications to unit dosed containers/packaging
  • Answers telephone directing phone calls appropriately and diverts all medication/clinical inquiries to the Pharmacist.
  • Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and coworkers.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the department
  • Performs other work related duties as assigned.
Additional Inpatient Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician Duties And Responsibilities
  • Obtains patient medication orders for medication reconciliation duties to input into MAR.
  • Prepares chemotherapy and dosage calculation checks.
Qualifications
Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, National Certification – Grade FHS7A, Job Code 00030
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Massachusetts state registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification or equivalent certification.
  • One-year recent experience (within the past 3 years) as a Pharmacy Technician; 3 years preferred, OR
  • PTCB certification or equivalent certification as an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician Trainee.
  • Duties require very good verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Schedule Details

64PP (32hrs. per week), Rotating Days/Eves, 7a-3p, May also work 8a-4p, 10a-6p, 12p-8p, 2p-10p, Rotating Weekends & Holidays
