Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician for the second shift (14:30–23:00) on a 0.5 FTE, part-time basis. You will handle medication management for the pharmacy, nursing units, and operating rooms, including ordering, receiving, sorting, and dispensing medications, with emphasis on patient care and service.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age required.
  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Licensed Nebraska pharmacy intern or registered as a pharmacy technician with the State of Nebraska Board of Pharmacy required.
  • If registered as a Pharmacy Technician, certification within twelve months of registration date required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for medication management for the pharmacy, nursing units and operating rooms including ordering, receiving, sorting and distributing medications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and provide excellent customer service and patient care.
  • Create and utilize medication usage reports to analyze data for inventory control.
  • Manage incoming telephone calls from inpatient units, triage calls with excellent service.
  • Receive orders, select proper drug, prepare dosage form and strength.
  • Practice sterile compounding for immediate usage and non-sterile compounding of liquids/topicals.
  • Perform electronic medication history inquiries and patient/family interviews for reconciliation.
  • Calculate IV infusion due times, reorder as needed and collaborate with providers, physicians and pharmacists.
