Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician at St. Luke’s Medical Center to support licensed pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications. The role involves accurate processing, labeling, inventory management, and patient data entry, with potential immunization duties under supervision.

You must complete a state license and complete CPhT or ExCPT certification within 18 months. The position is full-time, 36 hours per week, with a pay range of $21.85–$32.80 per hour.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED.
• License/Registration: Must be registered with state board of pharmacy.
• Certification: CPhT or ExCPT certification within 18 months.
• Experience: No work experience required.
• Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; strong organizational and problem solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist with preparation and distribution of medications.
• Select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks and inventory control.
• Screen calls and route appropriately with proper etiquette.
• Handle procurement, inventory, and outdate checking.
• Document removal, stocking, and wastage of controlled substances.
• Perform nonsterile compounding per USP standards.
• Perform sterile IV admixture using aseptic technique.
• Ensure storage areas comply with policies.
• Enter patient demographics and insurance data; assist with cashiering.
• Develop competence in third‑party billing.
• May immunize under supervision; obtain immunization certification.
• Deliver medications using Advocate Health-owned vehicle as required.
