Job summary

Harborview Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Inpatient Pharmacy team. The role involves assisting pharmacists with medication preparation, packaging and delivery to nursing units, and stock management in a hospital setting.

The position requires at least six months of Pharmacy Assistant experience or equivalent, and WA State Pharmacy Technician certification. Preference for IV admixture experience and strong communication/organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant OR equivalent education/experience.
• Strong candidates will have knowledge and experience with sterile intravenous admixture practices preferred, and good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Fill medications from Pyxis refill sheets for the entire hospital.
• Deliver medications to nursing units and other areas of the hospital.
• Package medications in single-unit packages.
• Restock shelves in the unit dose fill and front counter areas.
• Complete monthly outdate check and cleaning as assigned by Supervisor.
• Fill Ward Stock Requisition sheets for Nursing Units.
• Package patient-specific medications in single-unit packages.
• Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, perform bulk compounding of pharmaceuticals from a formula.
• Perform computer entry of prescriptions and charge/credit data.
• Work in the IV room and compound IV medications in accordance with USP 797 standards.
• Handle and prepare hazardous drugs in accordance with USP 800 standards.
