University of Washington's Harborview Medical Center Pharmacy Department is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the inpatient team. The role supports pharmacists, handles medication preparation, delivery, and IV admixture tasks in a fast-paced hospital setting.

Full-time, 40 hours weekly with rotating shifts. Requirements include six months of pharmacy assistant experience or equivalent and WA Pharmacy Technician certification. Pre-employment drug screen is required.

Qualifications

  • Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant OR equivalent education/experience.
  • State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification.

Responsibilities

  • Fill medications from Pyxis refill sheets for the entire hospital.
  • Deliver medications to nursing units and other areas of the hospital.
  • Package medications in single-unit packages.
  • Restock shelves in unit dose fill and front counter areas.
  • Complete monthly outdate check and cleaning as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Fill Ward Stock Requisition sheets for Nursing Units.
  • Package patient-specific medications in single-unit packages.
  • Under Pharmacist supervision, perform bulk compounding of pharmaceuticals from a formula.
  • Enter prescriptions and charge/credit data in the computer.
  • Work in the IV room and prepare IV medications per USP 797 standards.
  • Handle hazardous drugs per USP 800 standards.

The Harborview Medical Center Pharmacy Department is looking for an outstanding is looking for an outstanding Pharmacy Technician to join our Inpatient Pharmacy team!

WORK SCHEDULE
  • Full-Time / 40 hours per week
  • Rotating / Variable Shift
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
  • Assist the Pharmacist in professional activities and assigned tasks including preparation and packaging of medications and other pharmacy-related functions
  • All activities are performed under the general supervision of a registered Pharmacist

Strong candidates will have knowledge and experience with sterile intravenous admixture practices preferred, and good communication and organizational skills.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Fill medications from Pyxis refill sheets for the entire hospital.
  • Deliver medications to nursing units and other areas of the hospital.
  • Package medications in single-unit packages.

Required Position Qualifications

Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant OR equivalent education/experience

LEGAL REQUIREMENT

State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification
