Job summary

Advocate Health seeks a Pharmacy Technician at Davie Medical Center - Pharmacy to support licensed pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications. This full-time role requires 40 hours weekly, with first and mid-shift options and weekend/holiday rotation.

You will perform non-sterile compounding, assist with inventory and procurement, document controlled substances, and help with patient data entry and billing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• PTCB/NHA technician certification (CPhT) required.
• NC Board of Pharmacy registration required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists licensed pharmacist in technical duties related to preparation and distribution of medications.
• Selects, prepares, and labels medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assists with medication distribution tasks.
• Screens phone calls and routes as needed using proper etiquette.
• Assists in daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Completes documentation for removing, stocking, and wasting controlled substances.
• Performs nonsterile compounding per USP standards.
• Performs sterile IV admixture per facility guidelines.
• Inspects storage areas for policy adherence.
• Documents medication admission histories where applicable.
• Seeks additional duties when ready; supports training of technicians.
• Follows organization policies and regulatory standards; supports leaders.
• Evidence data entry for patient demographics, insurance verification, label generation, and cashiering.
• Develops competence in third-party billing functions.
• Provides care appropriate to patient age group.
• May obtain immunization certification and immunize under supervision.
