Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Pharmacy Manager to oversee clinical pharmacy services across assigned areas. The manager will supervise staff, ensure safe, efficacious, and cost-effective drug therapy, and coordinate with physicians and other health care professionals to optimize medication use and patient outcomes.

Responsibilities include evaluating current practice, developing new programs, addressing staff and patient issues, managing staffing and budgets, and ensuring compliance with accreditation

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Performs all pharmacist duties and responsibilities for their practice area.
• Accountable for maintaining best practice standards of clinical care and patient satisfaction.
• Evaluates the department’s current pharmacy practice and makes recommendations.
• Oversees development of new programs based on need and opportunity.
• Addresses employee and patient issues and seeks guidance to ensure satisfactory outcomes.
• Performs performance management activities for assigned staff.
• Ensures adequate staffing levels and skill mix to support patient care.
• Responsible for staff recruitment and hiring processes in the assigned area.
• Maintains standards, clinical activities, operational activities, and performance metrics.
• Identifies changes in medication utilization and costs; analyzes driving factors.
• Collaborates with pharmacists, physicians, and admin to address medication utilization issues.
• Contributes to evidence-based, cost containment protocols and therapies.
• Inputs staffing and financial budgets for assigned areas.
• Communicates and implements activities to educate staff on KPIs.
• Develops operational contingency plans with department leadership as needed.
• Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
• Develops/revises/audits/maintains department policies and procedures.
