Job summary

The Pharmacist adjusts and dispenses medication to patients and drives the compliant and efficient operations of the pharmacy. The Pharmacist verifies physician orders using the pharmacy information system, makes adjustments according to protocols for a given medication, and provides patient education.

This job also supervises Pharmacy Technicians and manages compliance tasks related to accreditation, narcotics control, and inventory management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
• Must be a good standing licensed Pharmacist in Texas.
• IV Certification or ability to obtain certification.
• In-patient/hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred.
• Flexibility to work various shifts and on-call as needed.

Responsibilities

• Verifies physician orders using the pharmacy information system and adjusts dosages per protocols.
• Supervises Pharmacy Technicians to ensure compliant operations and guides complex prescriptions.
• Manages narcotics control, inventory, and accreditation tasks.
• Educates patients on medications and expected effects, especially with multiple meds.
• Contacts Nurses and Physicians to verify orders and obtain additional information.
