Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Patient Care Associate to provide direct, hands-on support to patients and the nursing team in a busy inpatient setting. You will assist with vital signs, phlebotomy, EKGs, glucose monitoring, mobility, and daily living activities.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Previous clerical experience preferred in a healthcare setting.
• Medical terminology is preferred.
• Ability to read and write at level 8 in Invest system.
• Ability to set priorities and organize workflow.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interface with staff and patients.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and report vital signs, weights, intake and output, and glucometer results.
• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection.
• Assist patients with bathing, toileting, dressing, feeding, and activities of daily living.
• Help patients ambulate, reposition, and transfer safely.
• Answer call lights and respond promptly to patient needs.
• Observe patients and report changes in condition to the nursing team.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Complete patient treatments as directed by licensed staff.
• Perform two hour patient rounding and required documentation.
• Provide one to one close observation when needed.
• Maintain clean, safe, organized, and stocked patient-care areas.
• Collaborate with nurses and other members of the healthcare team.
