AdventHealth is seeking a dedicated Neurosurgery APRN to join our neurosurgical team in Carrollwood, Florida. The role blends inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, delivering comprehensive care for complex neurological and spinal conditions.

You will collaborate with neurosurgeons, physicians, and nursing staff to provide high-quality, patient-centered care across the care continuum with opportunities to participate in advanced neurological and spine care management.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current Florida APRN licensure.
• BLS, ACLS, and APRN certifications.
• Minimum 1-2 years of APP experience; neurosurgery/spine/critical care preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient: conduct evaluations, histories, and physical exams; manage neurological/spinal conditions; develop treatment plans with supervising neurosurgeons; order and interpret imaging and labs; educate patients and families; coordinate preop and post-op care.
• Inpatient: perform daily hospital rounds; evaluate/postoperative care after cranial/spine procedures; coordinate with hospital staff and case management; monitor progress and adjust plans; manage admissions, discharges, transfers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced Neurosurgery APRN to join our growing neurosurgical team in Carrollwood, Florida. This position offers a unique blend of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, providing comprehensive care to patients with complex neurological and spinal conditions. The APRN will collaborate closely with neurosurgeons, physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum.

Outpatient Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations, histories, and physical examinations.
• Assess and manage patients presenting with neurological and spinal conditions.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising neurosurgeons.
• Order, interpret, and review diagnostic testing including MRI, CT, EMG, laboratory results, and radiologic studies.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, and recovery expectations.
• Manage preoperative evaluations and postoperative follow-up visits.
• Identify patients who may benefit from surgical intervention and coordinate care accordingly.
• Document patient encounters accurately within the electronic medical record.

Inpatient Responsibilities

• Perform daily hospital rounds on neurosurgical patients.
• Evaluate and manage postoperative patients following cranial and spinal procedures.
• Coordinate patient care with hospitalists, specialists, case management, rehabilitation services, and nursing teams.
• Monitor patient progress, review diagnostics, and adjust treatment plans as appropriate.
• Facilitate admissions, discharges, transfers, and transitions of care.
• Respond to inpatient neurosurgical consultations and urgent clinical needs.
• Participate in hospital-based quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.

Required

• Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Current Florida APRN licensure.
• BLS, ACLS, and APRN certifications.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of APP experience preferred; neurosurgery, spine surgery, orthopedic surgery, critical care, surgical, or neurology experience required
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
