Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Inpatient Occupational Therapist to join the Monmouth Medical Center team. You will evaluate patients, develop and implement treatment plans, and work with a multidisciplinary team to promote safe discharge.

Responsibilities include documentation, patient education, and ongoing collaboration with physicians, nurses, and rehab staff to support functional independence and daily living activities.

Qualifications

• New Jersey Occupational Therapist license required, NBCOT certification required.
• 1–2 years of inpatient or hospital-based occupational therapy experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Strong evaluation and treatment planning skills with documentation accuracy.
• Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other rehab staff.
• Education and discharge planning responsibilities are part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive inpatient OT evaluations including ROM, strength, balance, and ADLs.
• Develop and update individualized plans of care based on evaluation findings.
• Provide evidence-based interventions to improve independence and safety.
• Treat inpatients per clinical standards and organizational policies.
• Communicate care plans, goals, progress, and discharge needs to patient and caregivers.
• Educate patients and caregivers; adapt teaching to education and cultural needs.
• Collaborate with rehab team to coordinate patient care and referrals as needed.
• Schedule and manage inpatient caseload with supervisor oversight.
• Complete timely documentation, billing records, and discharge recommendations.
• Participate in continuing education and department quality initiatives.
• Supervise students or support staff as assigned.
