Job summary

Mass General Brigham invites applications for an Orthopedic APP (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to function as Responding Clinician in the inpatient setting. The role involves admitting patients from ED/clinic, managing acute postoperative and non-operative care, and coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team throughout hospital stays.

The ideal candidate has completed an accredited graduate program and holds current MA PA/NP licensure, DEA registration, and required CME

Qualifications

• Must have completed an accredited graduate level physician assistant or nurse practitioner program (Master's degree).
• Certification by NCCPA, AANP or ANCC must be obtained prior to employment.
• Must hold a current MA license for PA or NP practice; must have DEA registration and MA Controlled Substance Registration.
• Must complete required CME according to regulations for NPs and PAs.
• Qualified in BLS and ACLS standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to orthopedic inpatients and outpatients.
• Act as responding clinician for assigned daily census (avg 10–12).
• Evaluate daily census and provide cross coverage to support services.
• Perform history and physical examinations; document plan of care in chart.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests; develop care plans.
• Order medications and write prescriptions per policies; participate in discharge planning.
