Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC seeks an Advanced Practice Provider to join the neurology team. You will cross-train across Neurology Consults, General Neurology, and the Epilepsy unit, building a broad clinical skill set with experienced neurologists, APPs, residents, and fellows.

The role emphasizes comprehensive inpatient care, patient and family education, and opportunities in quality improvement and clinical research within a collaborative, multidisciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• PA: Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred.
• NP: Graduate of an AGACNP program; Master’s or Doctoral degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient neurologic care across General Neurology, Neurology Consults, and Epilepsy services.
• Take histories, perform exams, assess status changes, and craft treatment plans with the team.
• Order tests, interpret results, prescribe medications, and perform procedures within scope.
• Coordinate care with neurologists, residents, nurses, and care managers.
• Recognize deterioration and escalate care as needed.
• Educate patients and families about neurologic conditions and plans.
• Maintain accurate documentation and share information with the care team.
• Participate in quality improvement, research, and education initiatives.
