Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Tech for PRN night shifts. The role involves patient observation, data collection, basic hygiene, and assisting in the therapeutic milieu within an acute care setting.

Required are a High School Diploma and BLS/CPR certifications upon hire, with CPI training within 180 days. Prior inpatient or related experience is preferred. You will work in a team-focused hospital environment with opportunities for ongoing learning.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Collects data ( intake/output, weight, temperature, pulse, respirations, BP) and reports anomalies to nurse.
• Performs basic hygiene care and skin assessments, follows infection control policies.
• Receives patient requests promptly and assists in patient comfort and safety.
• Documents patient information accurately in the medical record and in appropriate systems.
• Transfers and transports patients safely per Nursing policies; ensures patient dignity.
• Welcomes patients and families, introduces self, and alerts nurses to concerns.
