Job summary

Pavilion Behavioral Health System in Champaign, IL is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join a multidisciplinary treatment team across inpatient and residential programs. The role offers full-time or part-time options with day, evening, or overnight shifts, and requires weekend work with shift differentials on evening, night, and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; CNA preferred; Associates degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
• College student pursuing degree in behavioral health, psychology, nursing or human services preferred; Nursing students strongly preferred
• One or more year of experience preferred – inpatient psychiatric hospital experience with children/adolescents/adults is a plus
• Experience with crisis intervention verbal and physical techniques
• Experience conducting group therapy sessions, taking vital signs and documenting progress notes

Responsibilities

• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
• Provide routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment
• Document and communicate unusual or erratic changes in client behaviors
• Assist with patient groups and activities
• Work with culturally and generationally diverse populations to meet individual needs
• Provide trauma informed and age-specific care
• Maintain therapeutic boundaries and utilize crisis intervention techniques
