Job summary

Hickory Recovery is seeking an MHT II to provide direct patient care in an inpatient psychiatric setting. You will act as the primary conduit between patients and staff, supporting treatment plan implementation and ensuring safety.

Under supervision, you will monitor patient activities, document observations, and assist with group participation while maintaining professional boundaries and timely communication with the care team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be licensed QMA, EMT, or Paramedic.
• Previous experience in mental health, healthcare, or human services preferred.
• Strong communication, multi-tasking and patient-service skills.
• CPR and HWC within first week of orientation.
• Schedule flexibility, including holidays and weekends.
• Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Encourage patients to attend groups and participate in treatment programs.
• Monitor and assist patients when not participating in treatment programs.
• Assist patients with telephone use according to facility policy.
• Accompany patients during smoke and outdoor breaks.
• Report patient concerns to leadership and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Monitor patient safety and adherence to hospital rules.
• Complete shift notes and document observations in the EMR.
• Support compliance with infection control and workplace safety guidelines.
