Job summary

Mercy – OKC is seeking an Inpatient Eligibility Specialist to evaluate uninsured/under-insured patients for Medicaid eligibility and Financial Assistance within a hospital setting. The role requires assisting patients in- room with application processes and clearly communicating required documents and next steps.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of experience in healthcare, social work, or case management with patient interaction regarding financial concerns.
• Experience with self-pay, underinsured, or compromised populations; face-to-face customer service.
• Ability to explain complex state Medicaid qualifications and communicate patient benefits clearly.

Responsibilities

• Interview uninsured/under-insured patients to determine Medicaid eligibility and financial assistance.
• Assist patients in hospital rooms with Medicaid and Financial Assistance applications.
• Explain the eligibility process and benefits of Medicaid to patients.
• Obtain signatures on State forms and communicate additional documents needed for submission.
