Job summary

WVU Hospitals in Morgantown, WV seeks a Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse to provide direct nursing care in an inpatient setting under physician oversight. The role supports patient care plans, administers medications, and collaborates with RNs and therapists.

Qualifications

• Active LPN license in the state where services are provided or a multi-state LPN license through eNLC.
• Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
• State and federal background checks as required for regulated areas.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care, as outlined in the patient’s plan of care and/or as directed by the overseeing role, to promote comfort and return to functional health; consults with the RN or Respiratory Therapist for guidance.
• Performs designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
• Observes, records and reports all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions and progress in a timely manner.
• Assists physicians and the overseeing role with examinations and procedures, as assigned.
• Contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting and recording objective and subjective data.
• Observes the patient’s condition, noting deviations from normal health status and reporting findings.
• Contributes to developing the patient’s plan of care and identifies priorities and measures to maintain comfort.
• Assists in patient and family education and rehabilitation according to the teaching plan.
• Documents nursing interventions and responses to care and communicates with the health care team.
• Administers medications via intramuscular, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulization and/or MDI routes as assigned.
• Obtains instruction and supervision from the overseeing role when implementing nursing techniques.
