Job summary

The Inpatient Unit RN at Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. in Lafayette, LA, provides skilled nursing assessment, planning, and care to maximize comfort for patients and families in accordance with policies and the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.

The role reports to the IPU Supervisor and involves collaboration with the attending physician. This full-time position requires a valid Louisiana RN license, BLS CPR certification, and a Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
• Two years’ nursing experience as an RN; inpatient hospice experience preferred.
• Valid Louisiana RN License.
• BLS CPR Certification required; CHPN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs comprehensive initial and ongoing patient assessments to determine hospice needs.
• Develops and implements a plan of care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary team.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed; monitors and documents patient status.
• Counsels patients and families, providing health care instruction and caregiver support.
• Coordinates patient care as Case Manager when assigned; participates in care planning with IPU team.
• Maintains accurate clinical notes and liaises with physicians and community care providers.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in nursing

Two years nursing experience

Louisiana RN License

BLS CPR Certification

CHPN (Hospice & Palliative Care Certification) preferred
