Job summary

Hospice Of Acadiana is seeking an Inpatient Unit RN to join the team in Lafayette, LA. The RN will perform comprehensive assessments, develop and implement care plans, and administer medications per physician orders in a hospice setting.

The role requires coordination with the IPU Supervisor and attending physicians, with emphasis on patient comfort, symptom management, and family education. Shift rotations include day/night and holiday coverage as needed to support patient care.

Qualifications

• Valid Louisiana RN License.
• Valid BLS CPR Certification.
• Valid CHPN (Hospice & Palliative Care Certification) preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited academic institution.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial, comprehensive and ongoing patient and family assessments to determine hospice needs.
• Provides professional nursing care by utilizing the nursing process and developing a care plan with goals based on diagnoses.
• Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician.
• Coordinates patient care as Case Manager when assigned by IPU Coordinator and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team.
• Maintains accurate clinical notes and communicates changes to the physician and care team.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and supports self-care and comfort care goals.
• Participates in annual continuing education and quality improvement activities.
• Works with IPU staff to ensure a safe environment and continuity of care.
