Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Exercise Physiologist to support the 10DE Progressive Care Unit. You will assess readiness for activity, develop mobilization and exercise programs, and collaborate with nursing, therapy and other disciplines to promote safe recovery for adults transitioning from critical care.

The role emphasizes inpatient care, patient education, documentation, and coordination of care with the team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Health/Fitness field required; prefer Exercise Physiology degree.
• ACSM-CEP or ACSM EP-C certification preferred; eligible to test.
• BLS HCP from AHA required.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and performs patient mobilization and exercise programs.
• Assesses patient readiness for mobilization by reviewing medical records.
• Coordinates care with nursing and therapy services as appropriate.
• Explains mobilization role to patient/family and verifies orders.
• Performs mobilization and aids in adaptive positioning for safety and performance.
• Monitors patient performance and adjusts plan as needed.
• Assess and measure for appropriate durable medical equipment.
• Documents daily treatment notes and education for patient/family.
• Notifies team of changes in condition and response to treatment.
• Communicates patient status to nursing and clinical staff.
