Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC seeks an Exercise Physiologist to support the 10DE Progressive Care Unit. You will assess readiness for activity, develop mobilization and exercise programs, and collaborate with nursing and therapy teams to promote safe recovery for adults transitioning from critical care.

The role is full-time, 40 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. Compensation ranges from $24.10 to $36.15 per hour, with benefits eligible in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Experience in exercise assessment and programming for adult patients.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• 2 years appropriate experience preferred.
• Hearing (corrected) adequate for oral/aural communication with patients, staff, family, visitors, etc.
• Must be able to push patients in a wheelchair or stretcher.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements, and performs patient mobilization and exercise programs.
• Assesses the patient for contraindications and readiness for mobilization and exercise by reviewing the medical record.
• Coordinates care with nursing or therapy services as appropriate.
• Explains the role of mobilization to patient/family, verifies the order, and confirms patient identity.
• Performs mobilization of patient and aids in adaptive positioning to maximize safety and performance.
