The role you’ll contribute:

The Inpatient Coding Quality Auditor, under the supervision of the Inpatient Operations Manager, is responsible for daily auditing of records. Works with the Manager to ensure data integrity, train inpatient coding staff, and serve as a resource on coded data issues. Collaborates with the Clinical Documentation Improvement team to ensure charts have consistent and accurate documentation reflecting inpatient admissions.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

  • Review records for DRG and overall coding accuracy retrospectively and concurrently.
  • Address all third-party/regulatory agency requests for DRG changes or quality studies.
  • Review monthly pre-bill accounts for accuracy and report to Corporate.
  • Code and abstract charts following ICD-10-CM conventions, applying coding rules per AdventHealth West Florida Division and payor requirements.
  • Assign DRGs according to UHDDS rules, ICD-10 conventions, and policies.
  • Participate in mortality/risk adjustment reviews.
  • Assist with post-payment DRG appeals.
  • Maintain a 98% accuracy rate.
  • Help manage goals for discharged accounts not yet final billed.
  • Review and correct information for the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA).

Qualifications:

Required experience and skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ inpatient coding experience.
  • CCS certification required; RHIA or RHIT accepted in lieu of CCS.
