The role you’ll contribute:

The Inpatient Coding Quality Auditor, under general supervision of the Inpatient Operations Manager, is responsible for the daily auditing of records. The auditor works with the Manager to ensure the integrity of coded data, the education and training of inpatient coding staff, and serves as a resource on coding issues. Collaborates with the Clinical Documentation Improvement team to ensure consistent and clear documentation that accurately reflects inpatient admissions.

The value you’ll bring to the team:
  • Reviews records for DRG and coding accuracy both retrospectively and concurrently as assigned.
  • Addresses all third-party/regulatory agency requests for DRG changes or quality studies.
  • Reviews and reports on monthly pre-bill accounts for coding accuracy.
  • Codes and abstracts charts according to ICD-10-CM conventions, applying coding rules specific to AdventHealth West Florida Division and payor requirements.
  • Assigns DRGs based on UHDDS rules, ICD-10 conventions, and approved policies.
  • Participates in mortality/risk adjustment reviews when assigned.
  • Assists with post-payment DRG appeals.
  • Maintains a 98% accuracy rate.
  • Supports goals for accounts discharged but not yet billed.
  • Reviews and corrects information for the Agency for Healthcare Administration (AHCA).
The expertise and experience you’ll need to succeed:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience coding inpatient records.
  • CCS required; RHIA or RHIT accepted in lieu of CCS.
