Job summary

Covenant Health is seeking an Inpatient Coding Auditor and Educator to lead coding audits across inpatient, outpatient, and physician office accounts. You will educate coders and CDI staff, coordinate ICD-10 readiness, and present findings to leadership.

Role requires 3–5 years of acute care coding experience, strong Medicare/Medicaid knowledge, and certification (RHIT/RHIA/AAPC/CPC/CPMA). This is a full-time, day-shift position based in Knoxville, TN.

Qualifications

• Three to five years' acute care coding experience (inpatient and/or outpatient) required.
• Strong knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing guidelines and third-party payor rules.
• Proficiency with PCs, Windows, Excel, and Word.
• Certification in the field is required (RHIT/RHIA/AAPC/CPC/CPMA).

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform coding audits for inpatient, outpatient, and physician offices.
• Educate coders, CDI staff, and physician office staff on coding and documentation.
• Communicate audit results via reports and presentations to management.
• Support ICD-10 education and ensure ICD-10 readiness.
• Collaborate with HIM, Revenue Integrity, and IT to improve processes.
