Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS) is seeking an Inpatient Coder to join our Atlantic Region CBO. The role involves coding inpatient and outpatient records with ICD-10, utilizing 3M Encoder, and maintaining a 95% accuracy rate while meeting productivity standards.

Candidates should have IP DRG experience, a professional coding certification, and 1–3 years of coding experience (3–5 preferred). Strong MS Office skills and familiarity with documentation improvement are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Professional coding certification required.
  • IP DRG experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years coding experience, 3-5 years (preferred).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • An understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, microbiology and medical terminology is required.
  • Familiarity with appeals and 1-3 years healthcare business office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Code inpatient and outpatient records using ICD-10 and 3M Encoder.
  • Code according to AHA guidelines; inpatient experience preferred.
  • Maintain 95% accuracy in coding.
  • Meet productivity standards per HIM guidelines.
  • Abstract data from physician consultations and discharge records.
  • Query medical staff for documentation clarification.
  • Communicate findings to HIM management and other departments.
  • Perform administrative tasks to support hospital needs.
