Job summary

ChildServe is seeking an Inpatient Supervisor for the Iowa pediatric inpatient program. This night-shift leadership role coordinates care across units, ensures safe, compassionate, high‑quality care, and mobilizes staff from 6 pm to 6 am with some flexibility.

The role emphasizes collaboration with care teams, families, and leadership to optimize patient outcomes and staff engagement. Night coverage supports overnight operations and on-call medical group home support.

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as an RN in Iowa.
• Preferred: 5 years of pediatric nursing experience.
• Preferred: specialty nursing certifications (CPN, CBIS, CRRN).
• Active BLS from AHA or Red Cross.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and be mobile on site.
• English communication skills required.

• Lead and coordinate each child’s care plan with the care team and family.
• Ensure safe, high-quality clinical care aligned with best practices.
• Support scheduling, supervision, and ongoing performance feedback.
• Respond professionally to questions from families, staff, and partners.

The Inpatient Supervisor is a trusted leader who supports our mission by partnering closely with care teams across multiple inpatient units to ensure safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. This night-shift role offers the opportunity to collaborate, think big-picture, and make thoughtful decisions that support both patients and staff. This position is responsible for mobilizing staff to ensure safe patient care in all areas. Working 6 pm to 6 am with flexibility and plays a vital role in keeping teams connected and supported overnight.

Schedule/Benefits

• Part Time, Flexible scheduling working two shifts per week
• Night shift 6pm-6am preferred, there is some flexibility within these hours.
• Benefit eligible, generous PTO accrual, including 8 hours of PTO front-loaded

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Lead and coordinate each child’s care plan, working closely with the care team, the child, and their family to support meaningful outcomes
• Make sure clinical care is delivered safely, consistently, and in line with best practices and ChildServeguidelines
• Ensure the right staff are in place by supporting scheduling, supervision, and ongoing performance feedback
• Respond to questions or concerns from families, staff, and partners with professionalism and care
• Build strong relationships and encourage open communication across teams
• Serve as on call support for medical group homes when needed
• Support staff growth, engagement, and job satisfaction to promote long term retention
• Partner with leadership to identify opportunities to improve care, workflows, and team effectiveness

What You’ll Need

• Licensure to practice as an RN in the State of Iowa
• Preferred: 5 years of nursing experience in pediatrics, rehabilitation and/or with children with complex medical conditions.
• Preferred: Specialty nursing certifications (CPN, CBIS, CRRN)
• Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
• Ability to communicate effectively in (or through) reading, writing and speaking the English language.
