Job summary

ChildServe is seeking an Inpatient Supervisor for night shift responsible for leading care teams across inpatient units to ensure safe, compassionate, and high-quality pediatric care. The role schedules 36-40 hours per week, 6 pm–6 am with flexibility, and involves on-call support and staff supervision to maintain team connection overnight.

You will lead care plans, collaborate with families, and ensure adherence to ChildServe guidelines while supporting staff growth and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa.
• Minimum preferred: 5 years pediatric nursing, rehab, or pediatric complex care.
• Specialty certifications (CPN, CBIS, CRRN) preferred.
• Active BLS certification.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and mobility required.
• English communication proficiency.

Job description

The Inpatient Supervisor is a trusted leader who supports our mission by partnering closely with care teams across multiple inpatient units to ensure safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. This night-shift role offers the opportunity to collaborate, think big-picture, and make thoughtful decisions that support both patients and staff. This position is responsible for mobilizing staff to ensure safe patient care in all areas. Working 6 pm to 6 am with flexibility to meet department needs, this position typically schedules 36 to 40 hours per week and plays a vital role in keeping teams connected and supported overnight.

Schedule/Benefits

• Night shift 6pm-6am preferred, there is some flexibility within these hours.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Lead and coordinate each child’s care plan, working closely with the care team, the child, and their family to support meaningful outcomes
• Make sure clinical care is delivered safely, consistently, and in line with best practices and ChildServe guidelines
• Ensure the right staff are in place by supporting scheduling, supervision, and ongoing performance feedback
• Respond to questions or concerns from families, staff, and partners with professionalism and care
• Build strong relationships and encourage open communication across teams
• Serve as on call support for medical group homes when needed
• Support staff growth, engagement, and job satisfaction to promote long term retention
• Partner with leadership to identify opportunities to improve care, workflows, and team effectiveness

What You’ll Need

• Licensure to practice as an RN in the State of Iowa
• Preferred: 5 years of nursing experience in pediatrics, rehabilitation and/or with children with complex medical conditions preferred
• Preferred: Specialty nursing certifications (CPN, CBIS, CRRN)
• Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand
• Ability to communicate effectively in (or through) reading, writing and speaking the English language
