Job summary

UVA Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to manage post-surgical patients on our inpatient Step-Down unit. The role requires complex post-surgical monitoring with collaboration across specialties and providers to optimize patient outcomes and grow clinical skills.

The position offers 12-hour shifts, full-time, with 3–4 shifts per week and rotating nights and weekends. Education includes a master’s degree; licensure in Virginia; BLS; ACLS as required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master’s degree.
• License or license eligible as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by Virginia.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) as required, specific to position.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent and collaborative care to post-surgical patients.
• Perform comprehensive histories, physical examinations, diagnostic evaluations, and ongoing management of patients.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up care.
• Provide patient and family education regarding disease processes, treatment options, and post-procedural care.
• Participate in education, and post-surgical follow-up care.
