Job summary

Ocean View Psychiatric Hospital in Long Beach seeks a compassionate LPS Designated Behavioral Health Technician to join our inpatient care team. You will provide frontline care for patients under involuntary holds, maintain a therapeutic environment, and assist with crisis de-escalation under supervision.

Qualifications

• This role prefers CNA/EMT or Food Handler's Card as a plus.
• An associate or bachelor’s in psychology or behavioral health is highly preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in behavioral health or hospital settings is desirable.
• Strong de-escalation skills and boundary setting are essential.

Responsibilities

• Conduct safety checks and monitor high-risk patients; document observations.
• Apply crisis prevention techniques to manage aggression or self-harm risks.
• Provide direct care and support for ADLs and daily living activities.
• Assist in meals and ensure dietary restrictions are followed.
• Record vital signs and document per clinical policies.
• Support nursing staff with intake, searches, and discharge prep.
• Adhere to Patients’ Rights, LPS protocols, and safety procedures.
