Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health in New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Technician to support inpatient behavioral health patients under RN supervision. You will assist with admissions, assessments, vital signs, specimen collection, and daily living activities while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and completion of a CNA/MA/PCT program, or pursuing an associate/bachelor's degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of one of the following programs: Certified Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or Patient Care Technician, or Fundamentals of Nursing from an accredited school; or related medical/behavioral health background; or actively pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing or related field.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age and clinical criteria, ensuring safety and comfort.
• Communicate with nursing staff about patient status and care plans.
• Assist with admissions, assessments, procedures, and specimen collection as directed by RN.
• Support interdisciplinary care planning from admission to discharge and participate in PI activities.
• Ensure paperwork and electronic records are completed accurately and timely.
